This year, The IAFOR International Conference on Education (IICE2024) and The IAFOR International Conference on Arts & Humanities (IICAH2024) are taking a significant step forward in integrating sustainability into our event management. We are proud to participate in the Hawai‘i Convention Center's innovative Carbon Offset Program, reflecting our commitment to environmental responsibility and sustainable practices.
This first-of-its-kind program allows us to host a carbon-neutral event by offsetting our carbon footprint through the planting of endemic Hawaiian trees. These efforts are part of the Center’s One Million Trees initiative and contribute to the reforestation of native and endemic trees in Hawai‘i, generating certified carbon credits.
By participating in this program, every aspect of our conferences – from the use of meeting spaces to the duration of our events – will be evaluated for its carbon impact. The Hawai‘i Convention Center will then offset these emissions by planting trees locally, ensuring that our conferences not only contribute to academic and cultural exchange but also to the ecological well-being of Hawai‘i. This partnership with Hawai‘i-based Legacy Carbon, the only certified offset project of its kind in Hawai‘i, underscores our dedication to sustainability.
