Guided by the theoretical framework, this study explored the relationship between Chinese college students’ perceptions on their entrepreneurial environment, entrepreneurial efficacy, entrepreneurial intention, using a cross-sectional survey of 1,079 college students in a large metropolitan city of China. A structural equation model with mediation and moderation was fitted to the survey data. The statistics suggest a good fit without serious common method deviation in the data. The model accounts for approximately 18.5% of the variance. The results reveal that the entrepreneurial environment predicted entrepreneurial intention directly and indirectly through entrepreneurial efficacy that played a mediational role. The mediation of entrepreneurial efficacy was moderated by students’ gender that affected the relationship between entrepreneurial efficacy and entrepreneurial intention. Practical implications are provided in terms of improving the entrepreneurial environment, enhancing college students' entrepreneurial efficacy, and supporting female students’ entrepreneurship. Limitations and future research implication were also discussed and recommended.
